P&G answers to drug chains on pricing
Article Abstract:
A Proctor and Gamble Co (P and G) decision to abandon trade promotions in favor of everyday-low-pricing has the nation's drugstores seeing red. The latter voiced their frustration at the annual meeting of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores in Honolulu, HI. These retailers say they rely on promotions to attract business, especially in the area of health and beauty aids. Drugstores doubt that P and G's strategy will be successful in this competitive category. They vow to retaliate by promoting other brands.
