The chemical industry strengthens its results
Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: The proceeds of the Czech chemical industry increased by 27.5% to CEK 246.9 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. The positive development was a consequence of high global oil prices and the revival of the domestic economy. The highest annual increase in proceeds was seen at the sub-sector of coking and refinery oil processing in 2000 compared to 1999. The proceeds rose by 57.7% to CEK 63.7 bil during the period. A reason for the proceeds growth was high fuel consumption. The chemical industry had 89,000 employees. Their average wage rose by 5.7% to CEK 14,955 per month in 2000 compared to 1999.
