The way in which the National Criminal Intelligence Service (NCIS) copes with the deluge of suspicious activity reports accountants send it under the money laundering regulations is described. The challenges faced by NCIS, its performance and the future developments are also discussed.

New civil investigation of fraud procedures
Article Abstract:
The Revenue & Customs has issued new procedures relating to the civil investigation of fraud. These replace the former inland Revenue's Hansard procedures and the former Customs & Excise Civil Evasion procedures and relate to both direct and indirect taxes.
