The search for brick liquidity
Article Abstract:
Legislation is in place in the United Kingdom for Authorised Property Unit Trusts (Aputs) but there has been little progress in developing this investment vehicle. Some tax advantages have been removed by the government through the removal of advance corporation tax credits. Unauthorized Property Unit Trusts (Puts) have benefited from the tax changes since they are tax-transparent. Funds have been moving into Puts from real estate stocks, and moving away from owning real estate directly.
