The influence of surface slope on human gait characteristics: a study of urban pedestrians walking on an inclined surface
Article Abstract:
The step lengths decrease with an increase in the angle of the slope when pedestrians walk downhill. The decrease in the step length accommodates the rise in friction demand. There is a decrease in walking speed, cadence. and step length with an increase in the slope angle while walking uphill. This may be due to the need to reduce the power demand linked with the increase in potential energy when walking uphill. The reduction in step length may also be to avoid slipping at toe-off while walking uphill at steep angles.

Human characteristics at multi-variable control when the operator changes over the plant-lines
Article Abstract:
Human-activated control system failures diminish with the use of particular rhythmic operations. Research showed that rhythmic operations reduced operator/controller mental workloads and operation errors. The rhythm serves as an indicator of process correctness and product volume stability. The number of variable operations factors are also reduced and thereby enhances productivity levels.

Evaluation of handle design characteristics in a maximum screwdrivingTorque task
Article Abstract:
A study examines the effects of screwdriver handle shape, surface material and workpiece orientation on torque performance, finger force distribution and muscle activity in a maximum screwdriving torque task. Screwdriver handles with combinations of circular or hexagonal cross-sectional shapes with double frustum and cone lateral shapes are found to be optimal.
