The ingredients of an Institute training video
Article Abstract:
The Training Services branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales has been producing films for the past decade. Many of these videos are intended as part of a course of study, but increasingly the medium is being used for client presentations and as a public relations tool. The Institute prefers to use a dramatic or documentary style, rather than a 'talking head' format, and the videos are often produced as a joint venture with a bank or an accounting firm. The costs and planning that go into producing a video for the Institute are described.

Zoos: a matter of survival
Article Abstract:
The finances of England's zoos are discussed. Many of Britain's zoos were founded as scientific societies, and began charging admission and opening parks to the public in the mid-nineteenth century. Zoos have adopted a number of programs to cope with the costs of replacing outdated facilities. These include: raising membership and admission fees, animal adoption schemes, a species support scheme, and government revenue grants. Many zoos have attempted to conduct their accounting in a more businesslike manner.

Confessions of a regional training adviser
Article Abstract:
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales provides training services for accounting firms through its District Training Boards. A Regional Training Adviser can be sent to assess the firm's current situation at no charge. A confidential report is written up for the firm in question.
