The promise of the East: India and China as R&D options
Article Abstract:
The economical talent pool including Western-trained returnees, the patient population available for clinical trials, financial support from government and private sector funding involvement has made India and China a suitable location for sourcing of selected tasks. India and China are opening up a new model of biotech product development, the modular model, which is nothing, but decentralized R&D systems where different aspects of R&D are distributed globally and conducted autonomously in different locations.

Nicolas Sarkozy, French interior minister, announced that France would focus on few new biotech clusters. It is reported that the goal is to focus support on a limited number of clusters, the competitiveness centers and to attract mature as well as startup companies.
