The total cost of trading Belgian shares: Brussels versus London
Article Abstract:
Assessment of competition for trading Belgian shares between the Stock Exchange Automated Quotation (SEAQ) International and the Brussels Computer Aided Trading System (CATS) market reveals the severity of tightness of the latter market when compared to the former market. Data show that CATS market outperforms SEAQ International in terms of quoted and effective bid-ask spread. Results of investigations also provide support to different market microstructure models.
