Time's up for Fleming fund
Article Abstract:
The Fleming Far Eastern investment trust managers have asked investors to vote on a proposal to wind up the fund. Long-term performance has not been good, and there is little reason to include Japan with the Far East. Stockholders can take cash, move into a new trust called Fleming Asian, or into Save and Prosper, or a combination of Fleming Asian and Save and Prosper. Cash may be the best option since the returns on the alternative funds may not be good. Investors should wait until the fund is liquidated because the discount stands at 11%.

Kiss French fund adieu
Article Abstract:
Paribas French investment trust has seen a rise in value for its assets, but the discount has also widened. The board of the trust is proposing to shareholders to wind the trust up. Shareholders can choose to move to an alternative fund of two Paribas is offering, or they can take cash. United Kingdom investors may be better off taking cash since offshore investments can be problematic for private investors and the French economy could be affected by productivity problems.
