Trusts to change their spots
Article Abstract:
UK investors are being asked to accept investment remit changes by Save and Prosper and Fidelity. The focus of the investments may change as well as charges and a decision to make a change could indicate that problems have been experienced. The investments may not have performed as well as expected or a fund manager may have left. Investors should assess why changes are being made and what changes are being made to charges. They should also assess the tax implications of any decisions they make.

Darker side to price wars
Article Abstract:
Many investment trust managers have attracted investors by offering lower annual management charges than their unit trust counterparts. However, they are now increasing charges on new trusts, and the average annual management fee has reached around 1.25%, compared with 0.25-0.4% in the past. Many observers are now pointing out that investment trusts failed to use long-term borrowings when interest rates were very low to put in place large amounts of gearing.
