Jumper lauds F/A-22 Raptor, but cost issues loom

The F/A-22 Raptor fighter aircraft program is facing a tightening budget environment in spite of getting glowing endorsements from the Air Force's top command in terms of performance. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. John Jumper has praised Raptor' performance, its potential as an intelligence-gathering tool and has defended it in spite the fact that a recently leaked Pentagon budget document proposing to cut 96 Raptors to save more than $10 billion.

Cebrowski: more complexity essential to Defense

Arthur Cebrowski, a former head of Naval War College and a retired Navy admiral, resumed his current position in 2001, and reports directly to the Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. According to him, seeing the modern electronic warfare systems, there is a strong need to increase complexity and acquire swarming capabilities.
