Tune into radio
Article Abstract:
Radio dominated public information in the United Kingdom until the 1950s, when TVs became common, but radio is undergoing a revival in the 1990s. The proportion of display-advertising revenues attracted by radio has increased to 5.4% in 4th qtr 1998 from 2% at the start of the 1990s, and could increase to 6% by year-end 1999. TV audiences will become fragmented as digital TV is introduced, and this will help boost growth for radio advertising. Radio advertising was hit by the early 1990s recession, but companies may prefer to advertise on the radio rather than TV in later recessions, since radio is cheaper.
