A spot of turbulence
Article Abstract:
Manchester Airport has faced environmental protests over its planned expansion, and a dispute with the United Kingdom Monopolies and Mergers Commission (MMC) on charges. The airport has started to build an additional runway to cost 172 million pounds sterling. The MMC recommendations would mean a drop in income from charges of over 10% every year during the five years from 1997. The second runway is seen as a boost to the regional economy.
