UK equities: back to favour
Article Abstract:
UK equities have performed less well than US and mainland European equities, but this could change, argues Societe Generale Strauss Turnbull. Political uncertainty has affected UK equities, and there has been a fall in earnings expectations, though this is only a slight drop in comparison with Europe. Monetary growth should help equities since high liquidity is likely to be channeled into the equity and bond markets as physical assets are not greatly in demand.

UK plc faces financial health check
Article Abstract:
UK companies are starting to borrow after some years of repaying debt. Companies with access to cash are likely to perform well at a time when cash becomes scarcer. Companies are more likely to issue shares, and those which can fund growth from internal resources are likely to perform better. The financial position of companies is likely to become especially important if interest rates rise. Share prices may have reached their peak in the UK market.
