U.K. workers fear Thales, not BAE, may win British carriers contract
Article Abstract:
Labor leaders in the United Kingdom say the country's Ministry of Defence is facing a "moment of truth" regarding deciding to build two aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy. The Transport and General Workers' Union is worried that the $4.6 billion (U.S.) contract may go Thales, a French company, instead of BAE SYSTEMS, possibly bringing about a loss of approximately 10,000 jobs at Glasgow, Scotland shipyards.
