Syngenta's gaff embarrasses industry and White House
Article Abstract:
The biotech industry and the White House is embarrassed, as Syngenta, Swiss agribusiness group had inadvertently mislabeled and sold Bt-10, an unapproved genetically modified (GM) corn seed, as Bt-11, to US farmers between 2001 and 2004. Details of the various problems faced by the White House, biotech industry due to the Syngenta's gaff are discussed.

The controversies surrounding the US Bayh-Dole Act, enacted 25 years ago, and the legislative forays designed to modify the Act's terms to achieve a variety of social or economic goals are discussed. The Bayh-Dole Act has provided the nation and the world with a large-scale experiment in how public institutions manage public assets as private goods.
