Using temps and contractors: creating a win-win situation
Article Abstract:
American Greetings Corp is an example of a company that uses both contractors and temporary part-time employees at its photographic department. Bill Fowls, senior manager of the photographic department, says it may be more effective to use freelance photographers to take photographs of a new store or building, especially if the site is remote from its headquarters. The use of independent contractors also has its advantages. Employers do not have to pay benefits, taxes or Social Security. Contractors also have to buy their own materials and equipment.

DeSio said Image Arts' concept is similar to that of Mail Boxes, which is to bring all photographic services under one roof. All Image Arts stores will also offer the same range of services, starting with digital portrait photography.
