Vertical marketing systems: nonprofit marketing in the public sector
Article Abstract:
The Vertical Marketing Systems (VMS) framework is used in a study of the management of the irrigation water systems in California, Western India and Northern China. The differences in distribution channel design of the organizational structure affected performance of the structure. The systems in California, organized as a contractual VMS and China, with administered VMS performed well while Western India's partial corporate VMS system worked poorly.
