Vocalis: more deals on the way

Vocalis is involved in technology for speech recognition integrated into telecoms systems. The company is a specialist with products such as Speechtel which allow dialing by speech. The company does not expect to report a profit until 1997 to 1998, and reported a rise in losses for the half year to Sep 1996. Vocalis has set up an alliance with Ericsson, and also has a distribution pact with Folec Communications to boost sales in Asia Pacific.

Blick has performed well in the six months to Mar 1996 in a context of difficult market conditions. Costs have been controlled and higher margin products have been introduced. PAC was acquired in Jan 1996 and has contributed a profit. Additional growth is likely to result from new products. Cash flow was boosted by seasonal items and the company forecast 10 million pounds for the whole year. The company acquired Teletechnicom in May 1996.
