Article Abstract:
An increase in spending of US$2.1 billion from 2006 to 2011 by the US Department of Defense (DOD) is on the cards as Pentagon gears up to confront potential chemical and biological attacks, though critics are skeptical of its ability to do so effectively. The Chemical and Biological Defense Program will address technology needs and directions, restructure acquisition programs, and integrate test and evaluation (T&E) capabilities to execute these programs.

Lawmakers raise questions about Marine One, other helo programs
Article Abstract:
Lawmakers have voiced their concerns over the development of several rotorcraft programs, including the next Marine One presidential transport helicopter. The questions came during a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee tactical air and land forces subcommittee that was probing the Pentagon budget request for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2007, for rotorcraft programs.

Continued supplementals will be key for Army, Sullivan says

The US Army receives about $100 billion in the base defense budget and a $50-$60 billion in annual supplementals. The supplementals help the Army to manage the service's various demands in manpower, equipment refurbishment, troop redeployment and procurement of Future Combat Systems.
