War on waste in the banks
Article Abstract:
The Pakistani government is dedicated to reducing corruption in the domestic banking industry. The managers of Pakistani banks have long used their position to enjoy expensive perks such as free accommodations. The excessive taking of perks and privileges is borne by consumers; interest rates have rise to as high as 22% compared to 14% in the 1970s. The government is implementing regulatory reforms to make bank managers more accountable to reduce corruption.
