Women in Public Relations
Article Abstract:
Results of a survey of women in the public relations profession are presented. Results indicate that most of the women in the profession are young. They work in a wide variety of organizations. Most women manage a home and children in addition to public relations work. Almost all are on full-time contract. They chose public relations because of the interesting and varied work. Most all women surveyed feel that women have to prove themselves more than men. They also feel they have an advantage in retirement age and application procedures. The majority of the women belong to professional groups. The survey was conducted in the Netherlands.

A policy statement of the Foundation for Public Relations Research and Education is presented. The foundation is international in scope. The background of the foundation is reviewed. Goals and objectives are listed. The relationship with the public relations profession and the academic world is clarified. Immediate programs are noted. The foundation's fund raising policy is summarized. Possible international research topics in both social and professional areas are suggested.
