A site-isolated rhodium-diethylene complex supported on highly dealuminated Y zeolite: Synthesis and characterization

Article Abstract:

The reaction of Rh(C (sub 2)H(sub 4))(sub 2)(acac) with a partially dehydroxylated surface of dealuminated zeolite Y and treatments of the resultant surface species in various atmospheres is investigated with infrared (IR), extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) and C NMR spectroscopies. EXAFS data demonstrate that the supported rhodium complex in mononuclear with each Rh center bonded on average to two oxygen atoms of the support with a Rh-O distance 2.19 A, IR, C NMR, and EXAFS spectra indicate that the ethylene ligands remained bonded to Rh centers, and the Rh complex was found to catalyze ethylene hydrogenation at 294 K.

Hexarhodium clusters on lanthana: synthesis, characterization, and catalysis of ethene hydrogenation

Article Abstract:

The formation of Rh6 on La2O3, and the influence of this strongly basic support on the catalytic activity of Rh6 for ethane hydrogenation, is presented. The infrared (IR) and (super 1)H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy investigation shows that La2O3-supported Rh6 clusters are extraordinarily active for ethene hydrogenation and maintain their structure under mild reaction conditions.

Synthesis and characterization of site-isolated hexarhodium clusters on titania powder

Article Abstract:

Spectroscopic evidence shows a role of the support in forming and stabilizing the Rh(sub 6) octahedra. These Rh(sub 6) octahedra on TiO(sub 2) are among the best-defined site-isolated nanoclusters known.
