Can the light scattering depolarization ratio of small particles be greater than 1/3?

Article Abstract:

The conclusion that the depolarized ratio of the scattered intensities, I(sub vh)/I(sub vv), is shown to exceed 1/3, for nonspherical plasmon resonant metal particles. Gold nanospheres and nanorods are used to measure the extinction and static light scattering spectra as well as depolarized ratio of He-Ne laser light scattering spectra.

Adsorption and reaction of ammonia on the Ru(1120) surface

Article Abstract:

A study on the adsorption and reaction of NH3 is presented on the Ru(1120) surface using a high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy and thermal desorption spectroscopy. The study concluded that NH3 exposure at 85 K leads to molecular adsorption on the Ru(1120) surface.

Localization of small metal (oxide) particles in SBA-15 using bright-field electron tomography

Article Abstract:

Bright-field electron tomography was used to visualize small gold (5 nm) and zirconia (2-3 nm) particles inside the mesopores of SBA-15. The results were difficult to interprete due to ordered nature of mesopores and diffraction contrast present in the tilt series.
