Charge accumulation and polarization in titanium dioxide electrodes
Article Abstract:
A study examines nanocrystalline titanium dioxide Ti[O.sub.2] electrodes spectroelectrochemically by observing the simultaneous relaxation of the current and absorbance after applying a voltage step. A description of the potential distribution in the nanoparticles by using a dielectric model in which roughly half the applied potential is dropped across the interface with a [Li.sup.+]-ion-containing electrolyte is presented.

Defect chemistry, surface structures, and lithium insertion in anatase Ti[O.sub.2]
Article Abstract:
Atomistic simulation methods are used to detect the defect properties of anatase Ti[O.sub.2] and [Li.sub.x]Ti[O.sub.2] both in the bulk and at the surfaces. The calculated surface energies are used to predict the crystal morphology and calculations of defect energies at the (101) surface, suggesting that single [Ti.sup.3+] defects and neutral [Ti.sup.3+]-[Li.sup.3+] pairs tend to segregate to the surface.

Influence of cation on charge recombination in dye-sensitized Ti[O.sub.2] electrodes
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the reaction of a dye cation recombining with an electron in Ti[O.sub.2] in the presence of L[i.sup.+], C[a.sup.2.sup.+], and TB[A.sup.+] cations by using laser-induced transient absorption measurements. The results suggested that the rate of charge recombinations is proportional to the concentration of initially deposited active cations.
