Chemical modification of a porous silicon surface induced by nitrogen dioxide adsorption
Article Abstract:
The effect of gaseous and liquid nitrogen dioxide on the composition and electronic properties of porous silicon (PS) is investigated by means of optical spectroscopy and electron paramagnetic resonance. The interaction of PS with liquid nitrogen dioxide is shown to be a process of greater interest than that of the gaseous substance.

Chemical and electrical passivation of silicon (111) surfaces through functionalization with sterically hindered alkyl groups
Article Abstract:
Alkylation of Si(111) surfaces through a two-step chlorination/alkylation procedure has provided both chemical and electrical passivation of Si surfaces even when bulky alkyl groups are used as alkylating reagents. The sites sterically hindered by neighboring alkyl groups abstract an H atom to produce Si-H bonds on the surface.
