Competition between atmospherically relevant fatty acid monolayers at the air/water interface
Article Abstract:
Study was conducted to investigate the competition and oxidation of fatty acids spread at the air/water interface using surface specific broad-bandwidth, sum frequency generation spectroscopy. The results indicate that the surfactants on the surface of fat-coated tropospheric aerosols would only possess oxidized acyl chains after all less soluble species in the aqueous subphase were removed through the processes of replacement at the surface and atmospheric oxidation.

Effects of nanostructure on catalytic degradation on ethanol on SrCo(sub 3) catalysts
Article Abstract:
Degradation of ethanol over SrCO(sub 3) nanowires and nanoparticles was used as a model reaction to investigate the effect of nanostructure on chemical property. The results indicate that compared with a SrCO(sub 3) nanoparticle, though SrCO(sub 3) nanowire has the same crystal structure, similar grain size, and lower surface-to-volume ratio, the nanowire had higher catalytic activity.
