Crystallization kinetics and morphology in phase separating and sedimenting mixtures of colloidal spheres and rods
Article Abstract:
The crystallization of sedimenting silica spheres in the presence of silica-coated boehmite rods in low-salt dimethylformamide is studied by means of confocal scanning laser microscopy. It explains results on the basis of the different gravitational lengths and sedimentation rate of both species where higher rod concentrations drive the system quicker into the two-phase region of the predicted phase-diagram.

Stochastic simulations of the cytochrome P450 catalytic cycle
Article Abstract:
The stochastic simulation of the enzyme complex of cytochrome P450 is studied based on a number of models developed for a basic catalytic cycle. A stable pattern of the rate constants for different enzyme concentrations is observed during evolution of the system.
