Electrostatic screening and energy barriers of ions in low-dielectric membranes
Article Abstract:
The exact solutions of the linear Poisson-Boltzmann equation for several problems relevant for ion translocation across low-dielectric membranes are presented. The influence of negative charges distributed on the walls of the cylindrical pore is considered, showing that ion self-energy barriers are considerably reduced due to screening of electrolyte.

DNA melting in aggregates: Impeded or facilitated?
Article Abstract:
The theory of electrostatic interactions between DNA duplexes into the simplest model of DNA melting is incorporated. The study show that the effect of aggregate density is very different for aggregates built of homologous or identical DNA fragments relative to the case of DNA with random base pair sequences.
