Electrostatically stabilized metal oxide particle dispersions in carbon dioxide
Article Abstract:
Electrostatic stabilization of micrometer-sized TiO(sub 2) particles at long range in liquid and supercritical CO(sub 2) despite the ultralow dielectric constant, as low as 1.5 was reported. The electrostatic stabilization was achieved by solubilizing a small concentration of counterions in only a small fraction of the reverse micelles in the double layer and thus electrostatic stabilization has the potential to expand markedly the domain of colloid in apolar supercritical fluids.

Retrograde vitrification in CO2/polystyrene thin films
Article Abstract:
The devitrification of polystyrene, PS, thin films, supported by oxidized silicon (SiO(sub x)/Si) wafers were examined under various conditions of CO2 pressure and temperature using in situ spectroscopic ellipsometry. PS films in the thickness range of 15 nm < h < 200 nm were studied at temperatures from 25 to 75 degree C.

NMR studies of water transport and proton exchange in water-in-carbon dioxide microemulsions
Article Abstract:
Nuclear magnetic resonance diffusion and relaxation methods are used to stabilize water-in-carbon dioxide microemulsions by an ammonium carboxylate perfluoropolyether surfactant. This is done in order to help in the designing of new surfactants to stabilize microemulsions in carbon dioxide.
