Constrained conformations of 2,2'-bipyridine occluded in non acidic-MFI zeolites
Article Abstract:
The results of spectroscopic investigations of the sorption of bpy in silicalite-1, Na(sub n)ZSM-5 and Zn(sub 3)ZSM-5 MFI-type zeolites with (SiO(sub 2))(sub 96), Na9sub n)(AlO(sub 2))(sub n)(SiO(sub 2))(sub 96-n) and Zn(sub 3)(AlO(sub 2))(sub 6)(SiO(sub 2))(sub 90) formula are presented. It was found that the shape and size of the pore system as well as the low aluminium content are responsible for the extraordinary catalytic and adsorption properties of these materials.

Evidence for discrepancy between the surface Lewis acid site strength and infrared spectra of adsorbed molecules: The case of boria-silica
Article Abstract:
The characterization of the Lewis acidity of B2O3-SiO2 and gamma-Al2O3 is investigated by infrared spectroscopy using carbon monoxide, acetonitrile, and pyridine as probe molecules. Coordinated pyridene and acetonitrile show a much lower thermal stability on B2O3-SiO2 than on gamma-Al2O3, indicating that B2O3-SiO2 presents much weaker Lewis acid sites than gamma-Al2O3.
