Exciton dynamics in LH1 and LH2 of Rhodopseudomonas acidophila and Rhodobium marinum probed with accumulated photon echo and pump-probe measurements

Article Abstract:

The exciton dynamics in LH2 and LH1 of Rhodopseudomonas (Rps) acidophila and in LH1 of Rhodobium (Rd.) marinum at low temperatures and at different excitation wavelengths are studied. The wavelength dependence of the fast component in the pump-probe signal of b875 band of LH1 complex from Rps.acidophila at 3 Kappa was attributed to energy transfer between energetically inequivalent LH1 rings.

A near-infrared transient absorption study of the excited-state dynamics of the carotenoid spirilloxanthin in solution and in the LH1 complex of Rhodospirillum rubrum

Article Abstract:

The near-IR transient absorption studies of carotenoid spirilloxanthin after excitation to the S2 state, both in an n-hexane solution and in the light-harvesting (LH1) complex of Rhodospirillum rubrum is reported. Upon excitation of spirilloxanthin, both in solution and in the LH1 complex, an intense ESA band appears instantly at approximately 1200 nm and decays with a lifetime of <100 fs.

Electronic states, absorption spectrum and circular dichroism spectrum of the photosynthetic bacterial LH2 antenna of Rhodopseudomonas acidophila as predicted by exciton theory and semiempirical calculations

Article Abstract:

Semiempirical configuration interaction method and exciton theory applied to calculate electronic energies, absorption spectrum and circular dichroism spectrum of the LH2 antenna of Rhodopseudomonas acidophila have been examined. Experiments include the use of the transition energy in calculations.
