Experimental determination of the absorption cross-section and molar extinction coefficient of CdSe and CdTe nanowires
Article Abstract:
The frequency-dependent absorption cross-sections and corresponding molar excitation coefficients of solution-based CdSe and CdTe nanowires (NWs) are determined. The results have implied that in low dimensional photodetectors and photovoltaics, although both quantum dots (QDs) and NWs span essentially the same spectral range and have absorption spectra which increase toward the blue, NW device efficiencies might be higher than those of comparable QD assemblies, especially in the red, due to their larger absorption cross-sections and intrinsic polarization sensitivities.

Selenium nanotubes synthesized by a novel solution phase approach
Article Abstract:
In the investigation, the formation of Se nanotubes by a solution-phase method that is composed of a hydrothermal process and subsequent sonication is presented. The TEM investigation indicated that the hydrothermal process offered the t-Se particles, the size of which determined the morphology of the Se nanostructures formed in the subsequent sonication.
