Fischer-Tropsch synthesis on anchored Co/Nb2O5/Al2O3 catalysts: The nature of the surface and the effect on chain growth
Article Abstract:
The structure and surface properties of cobalt niobia/alumina systems are investigated, when niobia is coated at different concentrations over an alumina of high surface area (Co/x%Nb2O5/Al2O3). The DRIFTS results of Co/Nb2O5/Al2O3 catalyst have showed olefins disappearing with an increasing temperature of reaction and simultaneously increasing formation of methyl radical groups and methoxy, which are the precursors of longer hydrocarbon chains.

In situ ATR-IR spectroscopic and reaction kinetics studies of water-gas shift and methanol reforming on Pt/Al2O3 catalysts in vapor and liquid phases
Article Abstract:
Reaction kinetics measurements of the water-gas shift reaction are conducted at 373 K on Pt/Al2O3 in vapor phase to investigate the effects of CO, H2, and H2O partial pressures. Results of in situ ATR-IR studies conducted in vapor phase under similar conditions suggest that the Pt surface coverage by adsorbed CO is high, leading to a negligible effect of the CO pressures on the rate of reaction.

Acid sites on SiO2-Al2O3 monolayer catalysts: 31P NMR probes of strength and accessibility
Article Abstract:
The acidic properties of a SiO2-on-Al2O3 monolayer catalyst are investigated by 31P NMR of adsorbed tricyclohexylphosphine and triphenylphosphine. Results exhibit significant constraints to access Lewis sites, but not Bronsted sites and reported slightly less concentration of strong Bronsted sites than half of the total concentration of Bronsted sites.
