Gas diffusion and microstructural properties of ordered mesoporous silica fibers
Article Abstract:
The transient gravimetric method is used to measure the pore and surface diffusion of carbon dioxide (CO2) and ethylene (C2H4) in the nanopores of ordered mesoporous silica fibers about 200 micrometer in length. The results show that the surface diffusion coefficients for the ordered mesoporous silica fibers are about 1 order of magnitude larger than the nonordered mesoporous alumina or silica with similar pore size.

Interaction between metallic p orbitals and the (pie) orbitals of organic molecules: the binding between ethylene and aluminum
Article Abstract:
A set of first principles calculations is conducted in order to determine the interaction of a (pi) bonded organic molecule with a simple s-p metal surface. The findings indicate that the binding between a (pi) and the (pi) orbitals of a simple metal atom cannot be extended to describe the binding with a p band of solid.
