Ice nanocrystals in glycerol-water mixtures

Article Abstract:

The minimum size of ice nanoparticles in water-rich glycerol-water mixtures are studied by using broadband dielectric spectroscopy (BDS) in the frequency range from 1 Hz to 250 MHz and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at the temperature interval from 138 to 313 K. The mole fractions of different stages of water are determined, and the minimum number of water molecules that can gain the bulk ice properties are estimated as approximately 300 water molecules.

Theoretical and experimental models on viscosity: i. glycerol

Article Abstract:

The interrelation between the macroscopic and microscopic definitions of the fragility for glycerol is analyzed. It is shown that the number of H-bonds per molecule and a parameter describing the bend of H-bonds play an important role in this system and that the activation energy and the atomic inverse mean square displacement are proportional to each other.

Wormlike micelles in mixed surfactant systems: effect of cosolvents

Article Abstract:

The structure and rheological behavior of viscoelastic wormlike micellar solutions in the mixed nonionic surfactants poly(oxyethylene) cholesteryl ether are studied by using a series of glycerol/water and formamide/water mixed solvents. The results are interpreted in terms of changes in the surface curvature of aggregates and lyophobicity.
