Latex particle heterogeneity and clustering in films
Article Abstract:
The microscopy evidence on particle clustering within self-arrayed poly(styrene-co-acrylamide) (PS-AAM) film, showing that particles with very similar diameter and chemical composition are indeed separated and clustered into differentiated domains are presented. These particles show the sub-populations autosegregate themselves during formation, yielding separated domains of particles with similar characteristics, as determined using the scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and near-field optical microscopy (SNOM) techniques.

Undulatory delamination of thin polymer films on gold surfaces
Article Abstract:
The formation of traveling waves is examined in the delamination of thin films of polydimethylsilane (PDMS) exposed to methanol using two-dimensional surface plasmon resonance measurements. The stress-induced instability caused by swelling of the PDMS thin films when its edge is pinned to the gold surfaces leads to wrinkle formation and propagation at the interface.
