Liquid-liquid phase separation and microscopic structure in rubidium-ammonia solutions observed using X-ray absorption spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
The phase behavior and microscopic structure of liquid rubidium-ammonia (Rb-NH3) solutions are measured below the consolute temperature (T(sub C)), using the technique of extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS). Analysis of the EXAFS structure measured above the Rb K-edge absorption at ~15.2 ke V shows that the first solvation sphere of the cation is relatively broad, with ~6.4 N atoms being located at a distance of 2.9-3.5 angstrom.

Influence of ion pairing on the UV-spectral behavior of KI dissolved in supercritical NH3: From vapor phase to condensed liquid
Article Abstract:
The objective of the study was to analyze the effect that different species in solutions of KI in a polar solvent have on electronic excitation, that is starting with the isolated (K+I-) pair, going to CIP (contact ion pair) and solvent separated (SSIP) ion pairs, and finally free ions in solution by UV spectroscopy. There is a strong influence of the cation on the electronic transition of dissolved iodide when it is forming CIPs.

Sequential steps of ammoniation of the microporous silicoaluminophosphates H-SAPO-34 and H-SAPO-37 investigated by in situ steps CF MAS NMR spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
A dual step method was ascertained by studying the ammoniation of the silicoaluminphospates H-SAPO-34 and H-SAPO-37 by in situ (Super 1)H and (super 27)A1 MAS MNR under continuous-flow (CF) conditions. The hydrolysis of the silicoaluminphospate model is obstructed if the connective OH groups are covered by ammonia.
