Article Abstract:
The large media coverage and widespread scare over contaminated food and drugs from China started in July 2007 when Zheng Xioayu, former head of the State Food & Drug Administration (SFDA), was executed for accepting bribes to approve counterfeit drugs and medical services. An account of the several product recalls from China, and the responses of the Chinese government and the world to these scandals, are presented.

SFDA stiffen's China's GMP standards after scandals
Article Abstract:
The State Food & Drug Administration of China has released its revised Pharmaceutical GMP Inspection Standards. The growing issue of dangerous medicines from China is the key reason for the stricter rules. The new standards and the various issues surrounding the pharmaceutial industyr in China are discussed.
