Local composition in the vicinity of a protein molecule in an aqueous mixed solvent
Article Abstract:
The local composition of a cosolvent in the vicinity of a protein surface and its dependence on various factors are analyzed using the Kirkwood-Bluff fluctuation theory for ternary mixture. The Schellman exchange model is used to study the association between the preferential binding parameter in water + lysozyme + urea mixtures and the urea concentration.

Comments on the "osmotic coefficients and surface tensions of aqueous electrolyte solutions: Role of the dispersion forces"
Article Abstract:
A study on ion-ion dispersion, forces that are important in bulk electrolyte solutions is presented. It is concluded that the ion dispersion forces were ignored by most electrolyte theories mainly as they are important only for separation between ions smaller than about 5 angstrom and the interaction at these distances are not well known.

Simple computer experiments with ordinary ice
Article Abstract:
A study presents simple computer experiments in which various fractions of hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) in ice are allowed to break. The percentage of broken H-bonds required for full fragmentation of layers increases with the number of layers and reaches the bulk value of ice for 5-8 layers.
