Comment on "mass accommodation coefficient of water: Molecular dynamics simulation and revised analysis of droplet train/flow reactor experiment"
Article Abstract:
Aerodyne Research Inc./Boston College (ARI/BC) group's studies showed that the accommodation coefficient (alpha) for H2O(g) entering liquid water has a negative temperature dependence, with the magnitude ranging from 0.17 plus minus 0.03 at 280 K to 0.32 plus minus 0.04 at 258 K. The experiment suggest that the ARI/BC measurements of alpha for H2O(g) entering liquid water obtained with the droplet apparatus are consistent with a value of alpha=1.

Reply to "comment on 'mass accommodation coefficient of water: Molecular dynamics simulation and revised analysis of droplet train/flow reactor experiment"
Article Abstract:
A reply to the questions raised by a Comment about the molecular dynamics simulation and the treatment of the gas-phase diffusion in a flow tube, is presented. As discussed in the comment the fluid dynamics simulation has supported some features of the experimental results, which suggests that the concentration decay is exponential along the flow tube axis and that the uptake rate is fairly insensitive to the droplet velocity.
