Methanol reaction with sulfuric acid: A vibrational spectroscopic study
Article Abstract:
Raman and vibrational broad bandwidth sum frequency generation spectroscopies were used to investigate the reaction between methanol and sulfuric acid (SA). The formation of methyl hydrogen sulfate from the reaction of methanol and sulfuric acid was observed by the presence of a new peak in the Raman spectrum in the 800 cm region attributed to the singly bonded OSO symmetric stretch of methyl hydrogen sulfate.

Investigation of oxygen reduction reaction kinetics at (111)-(100) nanofaceted platinum surfaces in acidic media
Article Abstract:
An investigation is performed on the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) kinetics at the nanofaceted surface in rotating disk electrode (RDE) configuration sulfuric and perchloric acids. The results suggest that the amount of defects on the (111)-(100) nanofaceted Pt surfaces affects the rate of ORR in sulfuric acid.

Nanofaceted platinum surfaces: A new model system for nanoparticle catalysts
Article Abstract:
A novel approach is presented towards the preparation of arrays of one-dimensional platinum nanoparticles catalysts. This method provides facetted surfaces with two low-index surfaces, (111) and (100), connected by edges in nanoscale proximity, which resembles much, closely the realistic nanoparticle.
