Microcalorimetric investigation on the lower critical solution temperature behavior of N-isopropylcrylamide-co-acrylic acid copolymer in aqueous solution
Article Abstract:
The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behaviors of random and segmented copolymers of N-isopropylcrylamide (NIPAM) and acrylic acid (AA) prepared in dioxane and water was investigated by using ultrasensitive microcalorimetry (US-DSC). The results show that long polyNIPAM (PNIPAM) segments favorable for clustering lead to a lower LCST indicating that the clustering of PNIPAM segments plays an important role in the LCST behavior of NIIPAM-co-AA copolymers.

A proton nuclear magnetic resonance relaxation study of C(sub 12)E(sub 6)/D(sub 2)O
Article Abstract:
The spin-lattice relaxation rates measured for C(sub 12) E(sub 6)/D(sub 2)O as a function of composition, frequency, and temperature are consistent with the motions of lipid molecules in the structures. Review of the relaxation theory is presented with attention to molecular exchange.
