Morphosynthesis of alanine mesocrystals by pH control
Article Abstract:
Crystallization of DL-alanine is analyzed as a single polymorph model case to explore the different modes of crystallization of polar organic molecules in absence of any structure directing additives. Time-resolved conductivity measurements and dynamic light scattering of the reaction solutions have revealed information about precursor structures and reaction kinetics and a formation mechanism is proposed for the alanine mesocrystals.

Polymer-controlled crystallization of zinc oxide hexagonal nanorings and disks
Article Abstract:
A new route to obtain zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorings, disks and diskoidlike structure on a large scale is developed using polymers as crystal growth modifiers. Also a possible growth mechanism of the ZnO nanostructures based on polymer-crystals interactions in mild aqueous solution is shown.
