Low-temperature resonance Raman scattering from iodide adsorbed on nanostructured silver surfaces
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine low-temperature resonance Raman scattering from iodide adsorbed on nanostructured silver surfaces. A strong vibrational progression was observed in the surface-enhanced Raman scattering spectra of iodide. Results show that a new type of a surface complex is formed. Findings also provide an improved understanding of the optical and chemical structure of nanostructured metal surfaces.

Size-controlled synthesis of nanoparticles. 2. Measurement of extinction, scattering, and absorption cross sections
Article Abstract:
Extinction, scattering, and absorption cross-sections and efficiencies were experimentally measured for chemically clean silver nanoparticles in water for 16 different sizes ranging from 29 to 136 nm. The measured efficiencies indicated that particles interact with light 4-10 times stronger than what the geometric cross section suggest.
