Nature of the water molecules in the palisade layer of a triton X-100 micelle in the presence of added salts: A solvation dynamics study

Article Abstract:

The effects of added electrolytes on the nature of water molecules in the palisade layer of a Triton X-100 (TX-100) micelle is investigated using solvation dynamics studies of C153 dye in the presence of different concentrations of NaCl, KCL, and CsCl salts. A partial collapse of the surfactant chains due to their dehydration as caused by the hydration of the ions in the palisade layer may also add to the increase in microviscosity and the consequent retardation in relaxation dynamics in the presence of salts.

Characteristics of water adsorbed on TiO2 photocatalytic systems with increasing temperature as studied by solid-state (super 1)H NMR spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

The time profiles of the intensities, line widths and chemical shifts if (super 1)H NMR signals of adsorbed water at 358k were investigated for six different TiO2 photocatalysts with different properties solid-state (super 1)H NMR spectroscopy. The apparent single water peak was found to comprise the signals with different line widths and chemical shifts which corresponded to those of water molecules with different structures and mobility.

Solid state (super 17)O NMR of amino acids

Article Abstract:

(super 17)O NMR data can be easily collected at reasonably high fields (14.1T) from amino acids with good signal to noise ratios from samples where only 10-20 atom percent (super 17)O enriched water was used in the sample preparation. Typical (super 17)O MAS NMR spectra consists of well-separated second-order quadrupolar line shapes from carbonyl and hydroxyl oxygens.
