On the shape and stability of a drop on a solid surface
Article Abstract:
The shape and stability of a liquid drop on a bare planar solid surface are analyzed by minimizing its total potential energy calculated microscopically. The solution of the obtained differential equation for the drop profile shows that there is a rapid variation of the angle between the tangent to the profile and the solid surface in the region near the leading edge.

Microcontact and macrocontact angles and the drop stability on a bare surface
Article Abstract:
Two kinds of droplets, cylindrical and axisymmetrical are examined for two types of interaction potentials similar to the London-van der Waals and the Lennard-Jones ones. It is observed that the dependence of the micro-contact angle on the parameters of intermolecular interactions affects both the shape and the stability of the drop.

Cylindrical droplet on nanofibers: A step toward the clam-shell drop description
Article Abstract:
The existence and shape of a cylindrical liquid drop on a fiber of arbitrary radius are examined using a microscopic approach based on the interaction potentials between the molecules of the system. The obtained analytically results could be employed to examine the barrel-drop-clam-shell-drop transformation.
