Syntheses and characterization of lithium alkyl mono- and dicarbonates as components of surface films in Li-ion batteries
Article Abstract:
A homologous series of lithium alkyl mono- and dicarbonate salts is synthesized as model reference compounds for the frequently proposed components constituting the electrolyte/electrode interface in Li-ion batteries. It is concluded that serving as model references for the frequently proposed electrochemical reduction products in Li-ion batteries, the availability of these compounds in the bulk state makes it possible to understand the fundamental chemistries of solid electrolyte interface (SEI) in an unprecedented manner.

Metal/oxide interfacial reactions: Oxidation of metals on SrTiO3 (100) and TiO2 (110)
Article Abstract:
Chemical reactions between ultrathin metal films (al, Cr, Fe, Mo) and single-crystal oxides [SrTiO3 (100), TiO2 (110)] with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) are studied. The result suggests that the interfacial reactivity is tunable by modifying the Fermi level [E(sub f)] of both contacting phases that provides a variety of devices with heterophase boundaries.
