Photoanodic properties of sol-gel-derived Fe2O3 thin films containing dispersed gold and silver particles
Article Abstract:
Alpha-Fe2O3 films containing dispersed Au and Ag particles 5-20 nm in size were prepared on nesa silica glass substrates by the sol-gel method, and the photoanodic properties were investigated in a three-electrode cell. It was observed that when the film sample was illuminated by intense white light, the embedded metal particles did not affect the photoanodic current significantly and when the film was illuminated by weak white light, Au particles enhanced the anodic photocurrent.

One-pot synthesis and characterization of novel silver-gold bimetallic nanostructures with hollow interiors and bearing nanospikes
Article Abstract:
One-pot preparation of shell-type silver-gold bimetallic nanostructures with hollow interiors and bearing nanospikes, based on colloid seed-engaged replacement reaction and colloid-mediated deposition reactions, is studied. It is demonstrated that heating treatment can lead to evolution of the shell-type Ag-Au bimetal colloids to spontaneously generate novel shell-type nanostructures bearing nanospikes.
