Physicochemical consequences of generating a thin layer of ionic liquid at microelectrode surface in undiluted redox liquid
Article Abstract:
Numerical representations of physicochemical changes coinciding with the formation of very thin layers at the microelectrode surfaces of undiluted redox liquids were described. The liquids were examined during electrolysis. Concentration-dependent diffusivities of the electrolytes were measured and analyzed. The findings illustrate the ionic-species diffusivities during the electrode process, viscosity and conductivity. Moreover, various supporting electrolytes affected the transient current response, degree of the steady-state current and half-wave potential of the redox liquids.

Electroformation of microlayers of ionic liquids in undiluted nitromethane and its homologues. Unusual oscillations behind the range of limiting steady-state current
Article Abstract:
Steady-state limiting currents for the electroreduction of undiluted nitromethane and two other nitroalkanes are easily obtained by voltammetry and chronoamperometry at Pt microelectrodes. It is concluded that the microlayers of ionic liquid of the stoichiometry ANO(sub 2)(super -)R4N(super +) are formed at the microelectrode surface where R denotes either-(CH2)(sub 3)CH3 or -(CH2(sub 5)CH3 and A stands for the appropriate alkane.
